Tiara Melaka Golf Club
The crown jewel of Melaka
27 holes (9 floodlit), 15 minutes from the city of Melaka
Boasting a 27-hole layout of championship calibre, Tiara Melaka is a unique golfing experience. True to the architects design philosophy, the layout of the course makes full use of the natural terrain, creating a perfect blend of mans ingenuity and natures verdant surroundings. Covering 360 acres of pristine land, there three nines have distinctive character and challenge affording an absolute golfing experience unlike that found elsewhere. The undulating fairways are aesthetically pleasing as many holes are set upon natural slopes, tilts and slants. The Lakes course is dominated by a large expanse of water that is edged with an extensive array of specially selected trees and shrubs that line many of the fairways. The Meadow course is located on an open site with sweeping vistas and cool wafting breezes. Apart from palm trees, the colourful shrubs and tall grass around the lake edge create a meadow effect. The final nine, the Woodland course is heavily wooded with mature indigenous trees, creating a tropical jungle effect. As well as presenting many challenges to the avid golfer, for lovers of nature this nine offers an opportunity to see monitor lizards, gibbons and a wide variety of colourful birds.
A’Fomosa Golf Resort
Picture perfect – with a crocodile pit!
27 holes (9 floodlit), 15 minutes from the city of Melaka
Nestled amidst rolling hills, lush green surroundings and complemented by rubber trees is one of the most picture perfect courses in Malaysia.
At the Rockies nine, the layout plays outwards from the clubhouse to the resorts highway border, Palms Nine, the second nine owes it’s name to the tall coconut trees bordering the fairways. The shortest of the trio, the Crocodile nine, plays towards the resorts water theme park. Undoubtedly the highlight is the 7th hole from which the nine gets its name, this spectacular par-4 demands an unnerving approach over water to a peninsular green, which is adjacent to a crocodile pit. Ross Watson did a great job making the most of the location by leaving clusters of undisturbed vegetation and highlighting the huge boulder outcrops and serene lakes on the site.
Aorna Golf & Country Club
Distinctive colours – but don’t be deceived
27 holes (9 floodlit), 15 minutes from the city of Melaka
Amidst the serenity and tranquillity of the countryside is this Andy Dye masterpiece. Spread across 432 acres of spectacular undulating land is this 27-hole championship layout. The course is a beautiful blend of rolling fairways, deep roughs, manicured greens and strategic bunkers, all against a background that is both breathtaking and refreshing with lots of variety. The trees on the North course have been carefully chosen to add distinctive colours to each hole, a particularly pleasing feature. The signature hole is the par-3 12th hole on the West Course; this requires a 183-meter carry to an island green which is also guarded by a bunker. A full carry is needed to reach the undulating putting surface. Do not be deceived by the appearance of the course, the East and the West courses are especially tricky as the fairways are undulating and narrow towards the greens.
The imposing clubhouse is situated on top of a hill with a panoramic view over landscaped gardens and a cool stream of the entire course.
