Festivals/Holidays
Sri Lanka is the host to numerous colourful festivals. The Esala Festival (July/August) is a spectacular medieval day pageant and lasts for ten nights, climaxing with the Kandyan dancers and drummers appearing in colourful traditional costumes. It features torchbearers, whipcrackers, dancers, drummers and elephants in ceremonial attire. It is a truly unforgettable experience. The atmosphere in Sri Lanka is very laid-back and relaxed. The island now leads the world with an amazing 72 holidays per year.
