Chaka Pairs Winners - Sep 2004

JERSEY PAIR WIN MAURITIUS CHAKA PAIRS SALVER

Colin and Carol Atwood of Royal Jersey won the September 2004 "Mixed Pairs Tournament" in Mauritius organised by Chaka Travel.

The tournament was played over the Links golf course and the famous Legend golf course, the home of the Mauritius Open. A total of five rounds of fourball betterball mixed stableford competitive golf took place with twenty-four pairs from various golf clubs throughout the United Kingdom taking part.

In a "nail-biting" final round Colin a 6 handicap player and his wife Carol playing off 14 were paired with Tony Moran a 9 handicap player and his wife Michele off 17 handicap from Hickelton golf club in Doncaster with only three points separating them. Coming to the 18th hole Tony and Michele had overtaken Colin and Carol and had a lead of two points with one hole to play, and this is where fate took a hand. Carol playing her second shot actually holed out adding FIVE points to their overall score thus winning the Aggregate Salver by one point. Another highlight of the tournament was a hole in one by Patricia Jarvis of Wenvoe Castle Golf Club who received a certificate from Belle Mare Plage plus a celebration dinner for two and her name on the "hole in one" plaque displayed at the golf course.

Fantastic Holiday!Dear Mark and Sophie, Just to say an enormous thank you for organising the most amazing holiday for us! It truly was the holiday of a life time! Everything went like clockwork, from check in to arrival. The staff on the airline were wonderful to the children and treated us all so well. Congratulations to you all for that! Our accommodation at the Belle Mare Plage Golf and Spa Resort was superb. We were treated so well and made to feel so special from the moment we arrived. Our rooms were just as we saw in the brochure and we had the added bonus of having an ocean view. The food was amazing and of the highest standard for the entire length of our stay. Staff are courteous and polite and looked after the children so well. They felt very safe and loved every minute of their stay. The golf was brilliant. Again the staff including the caddies exceeded our expectations. The courses were immaculate and a delight to play. The whole package was fantastic and we could not have wished for better. Thank you to all for making it such a memorable experience for us all. Thank you so much for arranging our trip - it was absolutely fantastic. The flights were on time and Mauritours were very efficient and helpful. The Heritage was splendid and we were able to relax fully eating and drinking too much and enjoying the daily massage!! The staff and indeed all the Mauritians we met were extremely friendly and courteous -nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed the golf playing 7 rounds in all. It is a most attractive course but challenging particularly the front nine and we needed a buggy although a few people did trolley. We found that a number of people had stayed at the Heritage the previous year and one couple were on their 8th visit - this speaks for itself!! The resort would suit our adult children as they are all into golf, tennis, water sports and massage.

Dear Sophie, I am writing to thank you for my holiday in Mauritius. The Belle Mare Plage was wonderful, my room perfect, the golf courses super. The staff were as usual exceptional. I was very pleased with the flights on Air Mauritius. I have done a lot of travelling over the years and stayed at many a good hotel but I have never been so impressed with everything. Hi Mark,Thank you for organising another wonderful holiday for us. Everything went smoothly and Tangjung Rhu Langkawi is awesome. The two golf courses we played were great and very different. Datai Bay is fabulous but hard (straight and accurate required) Gunung Raya was a lot more forgiving in that there was room for error. We played them both a few times and loved it. (Although my golf was poor ~ embarassingly poor. Think I was missing the Scottish wind:))))
