Rashy and Barry’s Wedding
Rashy and Barry’s Wedding at Belle Mare Plage Resort,
Mauritius (July 2008)
We were delighted to get the following letter and pictures from Rashy and Barry who got married at the Belle Mare Plage Resort in Mauritius in July 2008. They kindly agreed to us using this to give an idea of the service we provide.
Dear Mark and Stuart,

First of all we would like to thank Chaka for the excellent service which they provided for us in arranging our wedding/honeymoon/holiday. We felt, all through, that your staff were closely involved with the planning of the holiday and that they were more than just employees fulfilling a necessary function but, in fact, were more like close friends who had taken a genuine interest in our plans. We would like to thank them all including Sophie, Stuart and Mark.
Chaka arranged a two week stay at the Belle Mare Plage Hotel on the east side of the island which is a haven for golfing enthusiasts, but which provides a wonderful backdrop for the wedding occasion which we had planned.
The hotel is a beach side structure which extends along its private beach for several hundred yards and which helps to ensure that guests are well distributed throughout the complex giving the feeling of space and exclusivity and helping to cultivate a relaxed atmosphere.
The apartment blocks are thatch topped, as are the main hotel reception and restaurant areas and give a warm and native feel. The exterior of the hotel is bedecked with plant life including magnificent palm trees and a abundance of shrubs which again help to give the complex a very informal and relaxing aura. The hotel reception is spacious and clean and leads out on to huge glass doors which open out onto a suspended shallow pool which seems to seamlessly blend with the sea view beyond.
Our rooms for the first week were the Prestige standard which were extremely high spec with shower and bath and huge double bed, with a sea view from our balcony. The second week we were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was a lot larger and looked out on to a grassed area with the inevitable palm trees and the beach just about 50 metres away. Both rooms were higher standard than any other that I have personally experienced when travelling abroad and both included personal safes with combination locks which were electronically connected to Security who in fact were alerted one day when I left my safe open. Security entered the room, locked the safe and left a note explaining the action taken and advising me that they would be in touch to open the safe and reset the code.
The hotel has several restaurants available to guests all scattered around the complex, and several lunchtime outside eating stations which we frequented on a regular basis, however at no time did we have to queue, or wait for anything, since neither restaurants, nor snack bars were crowded, and service was provided quickly, efficiently and with a smile.
The Citronelle became our favourite restaurant since the choice is so wide and the quality of food so good that one need never feel at a loss for something to choose. The staff at the hotel were extremely attentive and happy to oblige and even volunteered a remedy for an upset stomach by producing, completely unsolicited, a glass of peppermint for my wife which, in fact, did the trick and turned what could have been a minor disaster into an extremely entertaining evening.

Our wedding was arranged by Chloe, the coordinator assigned to us, and the event could not have gone smoother. Everything from travel arrangements to Port Louis for processing of documents, down to flowers, champagne, cake, musicians, and photographs was arranged perfectly by her, and nothing was left to chance so that, even though our wedding was originally planned to take place on the beach, the venue was switched, at the last moment, because of inclement weather and a private villa provided instead, which, not only saved the day, but probably improved the sense of occasion.
We will never forget our time spent on Mauritius where we made many friends (mainly staff and local people) and we cannot wait to return someday in order to renew those friendships and also relive our wonderful experience on this Paradise island.
