Gerard in Dubai 2016
After our flight from Dublin with the excellent
Emirates we landed at 09:30 and it was a very welcoming 25 degrees! We boarded our private transfer and made our way to the hotel for the next 2 nights, the outstanding Jumeriah Beach. After breakfast and freshening up we were transferred to the JA Ocean View and the JA Oasis Beach Hotels for site inspections. Both excellent hotels and the Oasis Beach was completely made up of Self Catering Suites, an excellent option for families and longer stays. We then returned to the Jumeriah Beach and I was lucky enough to be staying in an Ocean View Club room on the 12th floor and the view was breathtaking as you can see from the picture below!
Whilst staying at the Jumeriah Beach guests have complimentary access to the Wild Wadi Water Park located right next door. So as I had a couple of hours to kill I decided to release the inner child in me by enjoying everything the water park had to offer! The highlight was the high octane, adrenalin flowing Jumeirah Scream water slide! You enter a tube, whilst standing vertically, the door closes and locks, a countdown from 3 begins then the floor opens below you and you
are hurtled down a slide at 55mph, not for the faint hearted! That evening we were treated to a tour of the excellent Fairmont The Palm hotel followed by a Brazilian BBQ themed meal in Frevo restaurant where we enjoyed 18 different types of meat served straight from the skewer at your table, delicious! That evening a few of us decided to see what Dubai's nightlife had to offer and it did not disappoint. Bar 360 the open top bar was right under the Burj Al Arab, great music, drinks flowing and all whilst gazing up at the nights sky, amazing!
We began today with a site inspection of Jumeirah Beach Hotel, the hotel itself is nothing short of 5 stars! Excellent facilities for all types of travellers, families, honeymooners and golfers alike. For that extra special stay their villas where amazing here are a couple of photographs .... After
lunch we had a little downtime so I spent an hour at the beach relaxing and enjoying the beautiful sea. That afternoon we were collected from our hotel and our desert safari began, we had about a 1hr drive before hitting the dunes but the wait was worth it! An amazing experience and our vehicle defied gravity with some of the dune driving... A great experience for anyone to enjoy, we can arrange this trip for you, just ask any of our specialists. After our exhilarating dune
drive we made our way to a purpose built
camp where we enjoyed local food and entertainment, the belly dancing being the highlight!
After an early
breakfast we made our way to the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa, the worlds current tallest building! After only 40secs in the
lift we were transported from the ground floor to the 124th floor with a viewing gallery! Wow, the only way to describe the view. The Burj Khalifa is an amazing piece of structure taking only 4 years to complete! After returning safely to ground level we had a couple of hours to explore the Dubai Mall, for those of you who enjoy a spot of shopping this place would be a dream come true! We then made our way to the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Cultural Understanding. We were treated to a traditional lunch and a very informative talk from one of the Sheikhs. I found the talk excellent, the Sheikh did not disappoint, answering every question he was asked with great knowledge and a hint of comedy. This tour is a must for anyone visiting Dubai and wanting to learn more about their culture and history. We then made our way to the hotel for that night, the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray located on the Palm. A beautiful
5 star property with Arabian themes throughout. Once again the hotel was excellent, service, surrounding and overall feel was top notch. A tip from me would be to book one of the Club rooms as the benefits are excellent! It includes complimentary airport transfers and an excellent drinks package! Get in touch to ask more about these.
breakfast we checked out of the Zebeel Saray and boarded our coach to begin a city tour. Our ever informative tour guide Amil furnished us with excellent facts and knowledge all whilst pointing out numerous places of note. We ended the tour by stopping at the Spice and Gold Souks, anyone that likes bartering for a bargain then this is the place for you! We then arrived at our last hotel, the outstanding Jumeirah Madinat located on Jumeirah Beach. This is a truly stunning property and one which I would highly recommend to our customers. The picture below is me waiting on our boat to take us to our villas for the stay. After our
5 minute boat
journey we arrived at our villa which can only be described as amazing! A wonderful way to spend the last night in Dubai. That evening I enjoyed a Mojito in the Sunset Bar before being transferred to the Burj Al Arab for our farewell dinner. The Burj Al Arab is an amazing experience, easy to see why it's the Number 1 hotel in the world! We were hosted by Christina who was excellent and pictured above with me.
Well, my time in Dubai has come to an end, what struck me the most about Dubai itself was the multicultural and very welcoming atmosphere. It's is an amazing city and one which is still growing and developing. There is a hotel type for everyone and I would be very happy to assist you in choosing your perfect place to stay. Best regards Gerard
