Golf in South of Ireland

The region has its fair share of top quality courses, namely the Old Head course at Kinsale which is ranked 15th in Ireland – a unique course built on a promontory, jutting out over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean. The five star Fota Island resort near to Cork also features in the top 100 courses in Ireland, positioned 31st. They are only two amongst many other quality courses to choose from in Ireland’s biggest county. Cork city was as recently as 2005 awarded the accolade of European Capital of Culture, it goes without saying that such a destination is appealing, not only for the golf but the cultural and historical sites on offer draw visitors back year upon year one such is example is the internationally famous Blarney Stone.

From the unique Giant’s Causeway and Titanic visitors centre in Northern Ireland to the traditional pubs of Dublin and Galway, the island of Ireland has a lot to offer to the tourist besides golf. Although Ireland is infamous for its challenging weather there are many days, both in the summer and winter that are perfect for golf. The summer months can see temperatures reach mid to high twenties in many areas.
