Golf in Sardinia
Along with this beautiful coastline comes beautiful golf courses – perfect for a European golf break, the most noteworthy is the Is Arenas golf course situated on the island’s west coast. The typical coastal attributes are found on this course with a number of large sand dunes, but unique to this course the holes’ snake in and out of sand dunes and in some areas of the course open up onto forested areas. Is Arenas is ranked highly in Italy’s golf courses along with Is Molas, which is found on Sardinia’s southern coast. Unlike the rest of the island this area finds shelter from the infamous mistral winds that effect most of the Mediterranean, allowing less experienced golfers to play unaffected.
Situated north of Corsica in the Mediterranean Sea, this island is different from mainland Italy as through the years it has been under a lot of different ruling countries and it was not until relatively recently in the country’s history when Roman ruler ship came into place. The location, which is in fact closer to North Africa than Italy provides the island with a wonderful climate and some of the most beautiful coastline in the world.
