The Lackabane course was re-launched as a 9-hole layout in the summer of 2016. Seven of the holes remain untouched from the original form and only the routing has had any significant change. The 9-hole loop is a classic par 36 with two par 3’s, two par 5’s and five par 4 holes and measures over 3300 yards from the tips.

The course has a perfect combination of longer and more challenging holes alongside shorter risk/reward holes such as the opener, a straightforward 250 yard par 4 with a generous fairway. Sounds straightforward? Stray from the fairway, however, and there is amble card wrecking opportunities with a water hazard running across the hole from right to left with a large pond greenside.

The finishing four holes are completely untouched from the original Donald Steel design which hosted the Ladies Irish Open in 2002 and European Ryder Cup Challenge Tour in 2005. At just under one mile in total distance, these holes begin and end with a treacherous par 4 hole sandwiched between the par 3 seventh and par 5 eight, and even the Pros were delighted to be level par over this memorable closing quartet.

Lackabane offers a variety of tee boxes for all skill levels and its legendary undulating greens mean that any score matching your handicap is well earned.
