Rory Mcllroy has been going to Dubai since he was 15 and played his first European Tour Event there as an amateur, the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Two years later at the same tournament he claimed his first professional victory. Every winter now, Rory practices out of the Claude Harmon lll Performance Golf Academy at The Els Club, Dubai.
Henrik Stenson, the double Race to Dubai champion, has a home at Jumeirah Golf Estates and the list goes on – Rafa Cabrera Bello, Colin Montgomerie, Ernie Els and Greg Norman make up a veritable ‘who’s who’ of famous golfers to have forged deep and lasting connections with the region over the years. Whether designing courses, living here or just making the most of the ideal winter golf conditions for practice.
You can play golf 365 days a year. The courses are in peak condition during the Winter months between October and April, when the cool season grasses thrive and the growing conditions are ideal. The courses still fare well in Summer between May and September, due to a shift to warm season paspalum grass.
Temperature-wise, Winter is ideal. From late October to Early April, you’ll find top daily temperatures of around 30 degrees and between 26 to 38 degrees in the shoulder months of May and September.
As for facilities, the clubhouses are jaw-dropping. From the opulent Mediterranean villa styles of The Els Club and Jumeirah Golf Estates, to the traditional Bedouin tents that give Emirates Golf Club such a rich place in regions history, these buildings are as well-appointed on the inside as they are impressive on the outside. Restaurants like Nineteen, Big Easy and Le Classique are among the finest eateries in Dubai, and like the five-star facilities on the driving ranges and the courses themselves, visiting golfers get the same treatment as the professionals.

You will fly into Muscat and stay 2 nights in the newly opened Kempinski Hotel which is part of the Al Mouj development and play 2 rounds at Al Mouj Golf Club, home of the Oman Open.
Al Mouj Golf Club is arguably the best golf course in the whole of the Middle East, for me it’s a tie between Al Mouj and the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.
You’ll then fly from Muscat to Abu Dhabi. Here you will play 3 amazing courses and stay at The Westin Hotel for 4 nights which is located at the world famous Abu Dhabi Golf Club, home of the HSBC Abu Dhabi Golf Championships and won by golfers such as Ricky Fowler and Tommy Fleetwood!
Whilst in Abu Dhabi you’ll also play Yas Links, a constant feature in the worlds top 100 golf courses as well as Saadiyat Beach Club, a Gary Player designed course situated on the beautiful Saadiyat Island.
Following your 4 nights in Abu Dhabi, you’ll then be transferred to Dubai, spending 4 nights at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai Marina which is right in the heart of all the action and bright lights of Dubai!
You’ll play the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club, home of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and won on multiple occasions by Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy. The Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, home of the season ending Race to Dubai Final and DP World Tour Championships and finally The Els Club Dubai, the course where Rory practices and very well know as the most manicured golf course in the region.
Intercontinental Dubai Marina Hotel
Located amidst Dubai Marina and within walking distance from the Jumeirah Beach, Dubai Marina Mall and the Dubai Tram, InterContinental Dubai Marina is the place to see and be seen.
Natural light fills artfully designed interiors revealing a collection of contemporary sculptures. A Michelin-starred chef and expert sommeliers attract discerning diners to their restaurants and bars. Featuring a Fitness Centre, Spa and Outdoor Pool, the hotel is a destination in itself.
