North West of Ireland Ultimate Links Vacation
The North West is the least known region but there are many superb courses and real hidden gems along the Wild Atlantic Way. A North West of Ireland golf vacation has some of the most dramatic courses set in rugged scenery and in 2011 was voted ‘European Golf Destination of the Year’ and certainly should not be discounted. Lesser known courses like Enniscrone which can stand up against the best that Ireland has to offer and Portsalon which is a true hidden gem are not to be underestimated. The superb golf, rugged beauty and the friendliness of the locals make a North West Ireland golf vacation one to be very seriously considered. The Dunes evolved from Eddie Hackett’s original 18-hole design. The traditional links layout was reconfigured to include six new holes in the seaside dunes. Renowned architect Donald Steel designed the six new holes, and The Dunes was further refined to include four men’s tee boxes to suit golfers at all handicap levels.
