Arabian Ranches Golf Course

Arabian Ranches Golf Course
The Arabian Ranches Golf Club, formerly known as The Desert Course, Arabian Ranches, was built as a true 18 hole, par 72, desert style grass course, a signature course designed by Ian Baker-Finch in association with Nicklaus Design. Miss the immaculate grass of the fairways and greens and you enter the sandy waste, with its indigenous shrubs and bushes. All standards of golfer will also appreciate the GPS (Global Positioning System) yardage service available on every golf cart. Quote from Ian Baker-Finch Arabian Ranches Golf Club is a unique concept and a wonderful opportunity for Baker-Finch Design to begin an association with the Nicklaus Design company based in my home area of North Palm Beach Florida. My design associate, Mr. Dirk Bouts and I spent many days on site walking through the sand dunes with the camels before deciding on the best use of this unique property. I love the natural desert terrain and landscape that we found here. Our design concept for this golf course was to build a true desert style course similar to those found in Palm Springs, California and Scottsdale, Arizona in this beautiful desert setting. Our design brief was to extend, elongate the routing throughout the desert as much as possible, creating an oasis effect throughout the Arabian Ranches property. Hence the front nine/back nine loops back to the clubhouse which also makes for an ideal tournament course and setup. 1st and 10th tees close to the putting green and practice area and the 9th and 18th greens coming back underneath the clubhouse with expansive crowd and corporate viewing opportunities. My hope is that you will love the natural flow of the holes through the sand dunes and wonderful desert landscape. Many of the holes incorporate some of the truly great design concepts throughout the history of golf course architecture. I have played many of the top courses around the world during my travels and the truly great ones continue to entice me back year after year. I believe that Arabian Ranches Golf Club at Arabian Ranches will excite you and continue to entice you back as well.

The Montgomerie Golf Course Dubai

The Montgomerie Golf Course
Although The Montgomerie, Dubai has evolved into one of the Middle Easts most luxurious and desirable golfing destinations in recent times, the key to its success has always remained contingent upon the quality of the golf course that would become the focal point for one of Dubais most exclusive residential communities, Emirates Hills. The Montgomerie, Dubais championship golf course was designed by Colin Montgomerie in association with Desmond Muirhead. The course covers 265 acres which consist of 123 acres of turf, 49 acres of man-made lakes (a total of 14 lakes), 93 acres of landscaped gardens and is scattered with 81 large bunkers. The course provides the player with undulating “links land” style fairways with generous landing areas which challenge and intrigue all levels of player. Although large in size, the greens can be very misleading, especially as they are consistently rolling above 9.5feet. Plenty of shape throughout the greens can result in some very trying putts. One of the signature holes is the par 5 fourth, dubbed the Snake hole for its saddleback fairway which doglegs towards the green, with two bunkers behind forming the eyes of the snake. Further on, the par 5 ninth, with water down the left, is a tough finish to the opening half. The par 3 thirteenth, a hole designed in the shape of the UAE, boasts a 360 degree teeing area around an island fairway and green, allowing for a completely different golf hole to be played every time. However, it is the par 5 eighteenth that offers a more classic test. At 656 yards it is a monster and, with water protecting the front of the green, it defies even the best player to hit the green in two. The Montgomerie, Dubai offers two very different seasons of golf. During winter, the golf course is over-seeded whilst the summer season has the course back to a full stand of Bermuda grass. The turf growth is vigorous during the summer resulting in a very challenging rough.
