South Africa Cape Town & George Escorted Tour April 2017
with PGA Pro Jacques Gous
We arrived in Cape Town and everyone enjoyed the afternoon relaxing in the hotel and exploring the Waterfront, which was only a 5 min walk from the hotel. We enjoyed a lovely meal where we all got meet each other.
We took off in the morning for a nice sightseeing day and started in Bloubergstrand by visiting The Blue Peter Restaurant. We had a stop and some great photo opportunities awaited the group with Table Mountain in the background. From here we went around Camps Bay and through Houtbay to visit the penguins. After some great moments we headed for Stellenbosch and enjoyed lunch on one of my favourite wine farms, namely Morgenhof. Some wine tasting was also experienced here. The evening finished with a beautiful meal in the famous Gold Restaurant with some authentic African food.
We had our first game at the beautiful Jack Nicklaus design Pearl Valley and this was enjoyed by each and everyone. Some tuition also took place on the range just before we teed off. After golf we had a few drinks and headed to Stellenbosch for our evening meal in the renowned Ernie Els restaurant called, The Big Easy.
Drive down to George and stop along the way for some great scenery and photo opportunities. Arrived at the beautiful King George Hotel and chilled out with some nice refreshments. The evening was spent at The Old Town House restaurant with a lovely meal.
Golf at the majestic George Golf Club in nice warm weather. We then went to Wildernesse for some drinks overlooking the ocean and some even went for a stroll on the beach and got their feet in the Indian Ocean. We finished our evening meal that evening in the majestic Henry Whites Restaurant at the world class Fancourt.
We left the hotel quite early and made our way to the coastal town of Knysna. We first visited the Elephants at the Knysna Elephant Park and here everyone interacted with these beautiful giants like they never could have imagined and loved every minute of it. After the Ellies we drove to Simola Golf and Country Club for one of the most scenic golf course you have ever seen. The golf and tuition was a huge success and this was followed by an evening meal in the waterfront on the Knysna Lagoon. What a day!!
No golf today and head off to Pinnacle Point Golf Estate just for a short visit and lunch. The reaction to this place was a unanimous Wow! We left there and headed to Botlierskop Private Game Reserve for a stunning game drive and saw some of Africa’s great animals. Our evening meal also took place at the Game Lodge and the food was to die for.
Golf at Oubaai and this is Ernie Els’ first ever design golf course in South Africa. We start off with a short game clinic and everyone enjoys as they learn and pick up some tips to use later in the round. We had a great day and saw some springboks walking all around the course. We stayed here and enjoyed our evening meal in The Waterside restaurant in the Oubaai Hotel.
The day that I was looking forward to the most, playing golf at Fancourt, on the Montagu Course. This gem of a Golf Estate and Country Club is the pride of South African golf and when you visit here you can see why. Gary Player was the brain behind it all and what a job he did to create this golf paradise.
We had some drinks after and travelled to our last evening meal to the seaside restaurant in Wildernesse called The Views. The reason for the name is very clear when you see where it is. Sitting on the beach with full view of the Indian Ocean and a beautiful sunset.
