Having returned from the inaugural African Golf Safari International at Legends Golf and Safari Resort in Limpopo province of South Africa, I can’t wait for the next one. It was an intoxicating combination of winter sun, beers, braai (bbq), and golf, making new friends from all over the world.
Thanks to Scott Edkins from Ascot Tours for arranging the event, and his team along with the staff at Legends Resort for making the week smooth. We’ll share details of next year's event when available, and I look forward to many of you joining the fun!
The Event
The field included over 60 players from various countries. Our group arrived early for a practice round and to settle in before the event.
During the event, we had dinner under the African sky, entertained by local dancers and viewed the stars. Having a practice round was beneficial, with three of my Northern Irish team in the top five after day one. We enjoyed a putting competition and a variety of South African food at the Extreme 19th sunset deck.
A memorable early game drive and the Extreme 19th Challenge were highlights. The Par 3 Tribute course was a hit, and the 'Hole in 1' night golf event was fun. Non-golfer partners enjoyed game drives, scenic flights, spa treatments, and a boat cruise.
The final day had a close competition, with Edwardo Juta winning the event. The awards ceremony concluded the successful event.
