Jets, Golf & Good Causes
Over the past month, I've had the privilege of attending several fantastic events that combined golf, celebrities, and philanthropy.
Playing at the British Par 3 Championship at Nailcote Hall.
In early July, I participated in the Celeb/Am day at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship at Nailcote Hall, playing for the Eurojet team with celebrity Willie Thorne. The event also marked the launch of our new venture, jetsetgolf.com, which aims to create bespoke luxury golf travel experiences by combining the expertise of chakatravel.com and eurojet.eu.com.
The day's golf was excellent, with the course offering a rigorous test of our short game. The camaraderie in our four-ball was fantastic, enhancing the overall experience.
The gala dinner that evening, hosted by Willie Thorne, featured superb dining and entertainment. The auction included a coveted 'Private Jet for the day' prize from eurojet.eu.com, with proceeds going to 'Rainbows,' a hospice for children and young people in the East Midlands. It was heartwarming to see celebrities supporting this cause.
During the golf event, I managed to win the closest to the pin prize on the 7th hole, a welcome surprise given my earlier performance. Larry Laoretti, a former golfer known for his charismatic personality, presented the award, making it a memorable highlight.
A week later, we sponsored the Rory McIlroy classic at Holywood Golf Club, which garnered more attention following Rory's major win in 2011. The event was excellently organized by Paul Gray and his team and raised funds for the junior section at Holywood.
Rory McIlroy himself made an appearance, graciously presenting awards and signing autographs. His involvement added a special touch to the event, showcasing his commitment to the club where he honed his skills.
More recently, my friend Stuart Cameron hosted a golf day through his 'Really Teed Off' society, raising £1200 for the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Society. Stuart's efforts in securing sponsorships and prizes during these challenging economic times were commendable, and I'm proud to have supported the event.
These events reminded me of the generosity that exists even in tough times and the power of sports to forge lasting friendships.
Thank you for reading, and I'll be back with more updates soon.
All the best
