The K Club
The Kildare Hotel at the K Club, just west of Dublin City Centre, is the first hotel in Ireland to be awared with 5 Red Stars by the AA - the highest accolade possible. Located on the site of two great golf courses, the K Club was the Venue of the Ryder Cup in 2006 and also hosted the European Open from 1995 - 2007.
As you would expect from a hotel of this quality, the Kildare Hotel at the K Club offers a range of dining options, a luxurious spa and service one would expect from a 5* establishment.
All of the bedrooms at the Kildare Hotel have been individually designed and cleverly combine modern fixtures and fittings into the traditional style of this grand hotel.
Our Recommended Courses
Palmer North
The North course, or the Palmer Ryder Cup course, or rather "Palmer North" as it is now called, was of course designed by Arnold Palmer, opening for play in 1991. The River Liffey meanders through the property and becomes hazardous on a number of holes, especially the 8th, where it runs all the way down the left hand side of the fairway.
There are four teeing areas to choose from and we recommend that you select the right one carefully because the Palmer North course measures a whopping 7,337 yards from the blues, a par of 72. The SSS of 76 tells the story. The blues should really be left for the very best golfers, the likes of Kenneth Ferrie, Stephen Dodd and Colin Montgomerie. The aforementioned gentlemen are the most recent winners of the European Open, held at the K Club.
Palmer South
The Palmer South course at The K Club (formerly known as the South course and the Smurfit) has received more accolades than the latest blockbuster. Arnold Palmer's chief designer, Harrison Minchew, was charged with creating a layout which would contrast with the existing tree-lined Palmer North course, and he's come up with a sculptured brute.
